NEWS FLASH !!

Half of the "brain trust" announced retirement on Monday. Too bad it isn't the half that sits next to me, but it is progress nonetheless.

Manic Monday

Things are still crazy with me, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm almost through our busy time at work. I have been lax in posting because I have not had any downtime at work and because my husband has messed with the security level of our wireless network at home and my laptop has been shut out of the internet connection, so I haven't been able to post here or at home. Anyway...

My son finally got in two soccer games this weekend despite more rain on Saturday morning. His team won both games and he scored at least one goal in each game.

After the game, we stopped at a garden center and bought some more plants for the yard including Gerber Daisies, which are my favorite.

I managed to sneak out of here for the day on Friday and took a day trip to Philly for a bead show. I got a bunch of little goodies to string with my fused pieces. We've been reorganizing our office at home and my jewelry workspace and the project is almost completed so I'll be able to get back into stringing soon. I took a bunch of new pieces to my hair salon last Thursday, so hopefully they will sell.

Bear with me another week and I'll be back to my usually beading and blogging.

Quick Update

Yes, I am still slammed here at work, but I managed to play hooky from work yesterday. The hubby and I dropped the kids at school and headed to Great Falls for some hiking. We had a great hike. We saw tons of blooming Virginia Bluebells, several lizards and skinks, turtles sunning themselves on logs and a small herd of deer, all of which we got some cool photos. After lunch in Glen Echo, we went to Ikea in College Park and picked up bookcases for our home office. All in all the weather was beautiful and it was nice to have a day together with just the two of us.

The soccer game last weekend was in fact rained out and the game this week is cancelled because the other team doesn't have enough players. I thought it was rather ambitious to schedule a game on Easter weekend. Hopefully, they will finally get to play an actual game next weekend.

Happy Easter everyone!

Fabulous Friday

My week has been insane. We have our annual National Leadership Conference coming up next month at Disney and I've been busy getting all our printed materials prepared, approved by Disney and off to press. Plus, I have a magazine in production right now and let me just tell you that the "brain trust" is in its full glory. (One is off today through Tuesday, then the other one leaves next Wed. to go to Hawaii for a week.) OK, if this is the busiest time of the year, should you be taking your vacation in the middle of it? I think not. But they don't think and that's why I call them the brain trust so why am I surprised. Whatever.

My oldest son has his very first soccer game scheduled for tomorrow morning. Unfortunately it seems there is a good chance it will be rained out. You have no idea how heartbreaking this is to a four- (almost) five-year-old (and his parents). As much as we need the rain, I hope it allows for the games in the morning. Another bit of kid news for you is that he also had his first Karate belt test yesterday and he passed. He's very excited to have his new gold stripe belt.

In honor of Friday, I am posting one of my latest creations and personally my new favorite piece. I made the fused piece and then created a triple strand necklace. I am having too much fun with the fusing. Buying glass can be addicting and expensive. I have made a serious effort to avoid eBay lately. Anyway, I hope you like the piece and that you have a great weekend.
